As a concreting company, we are always interested to hear a story about concrete or mention of concrete in the news. Here are a few of the latest concreting references that have caught our eye.
Adelaide’s Darling Upgrade Project
Upgrades to the Darlington Motorway may be further delayed by a crumbling concrete wall. Adelaide has been extremely dry during the beginning half of the year, so it is unclear how a little bit of rain in early May could cause the shotcrete to start falling away.
Early investigations indicate that damage has been localised to the one section but the project team will “continue our investigations both into the cause of this specific issue and also the broader worksite,” DPTI spokesman Paul Kermode said.
Adelaide’s New Concrete Tower
A new 25-storey hotel and office tower has just been approved for Currie Street Adelaide. Designed by Hames Sharley architects and formed with an expressed concrete frame, the new mixed-use tower will also feature:
- Rooftop restaurant and bar
- Ground-floor cafe and restaurant
- Office space
- 198 Hotel rooms
